Several years ago my mother stayed at the Ocean Beach Hotel and she fell in love with the amazing pier. It was the topic of many conversations that she would have for years that followed. Before she passed away one of her concerns was that her ashes be left in the ocean, off of the Pier. My brother and I took her ashes to the Pier, prayed for her and placed her ashes in the water. For a couple minutes the sea was quiet, with only a gentle breeze, then the wind picked up and the water again became choppy and ferocious. For one moment, it stood still as if to welcome her. I know that she is at peace. Sometimes I watch the Live Cam so that I can feel close to her.
